Politicsandsports.com is a blog dedicated to examining the similarities and differences between politics and sports. The passion for both politics and sports is both endearing at times and at times deeply disturbing. Talking heads in the sports world whether Kornheiser and Wilbon, Rome, Mike and the Mad Dog, Dale and Holly, “Hacksaw Hamilton, JT The Brick or Mike and Mike can inflame passions. Political talkers such as OReilly, Olberman, Hannity and Combs, Rush, Dobbs and Russert are an intense group, playing a similar game. The divide between those who love and those who hate Belichick, Kobe, T.O, Parcells, A-Rod, Bonds, the Yankees, and the Sox is as great as that which separates Bushes from Clintons, liberals from conservatives, and neocons from libertarians.
This blog is an effort to learn from these two important areas of modern life and to put both politics and sports in their proper perspectives.
About the Blogger: Jesse McClure
I am a native of Louisville Kentucky and a graduate of Louisville Male High School. This is the same school which claims both Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis and “Gonzo” journalist Hunter S. Thompson as outstanding alums. I was a “great” high school football player . I was on the same Scholastic Magazine All American football team as Johnson City Tennessee quarterback, Steve Spurrier. I grew up in the same neighborhood and attended school and summer camp with Muhammad Ali and as a boy used to watch Johnny Unitas and Paul Hornung practice.
I attended the University of Michigan on an athletic scholarship and received both a bachelors and masters degree there. I also received a Ph. D. degree from Brandeis University. Maybe I did so well in graduate school because I went to the same high school as Justice Brandeis.

I spent about thirty years as a professor and administrator in a number of colleges and universities. I have been active in a variety of civic and political groups. I have been an official of a Triple A baseball team as well as chair of the board of a number of charitable organizations. I love to talk politics and sports.
